With a view to helping merchants place ads on Facebook, Boutir has launched a feature called “Self-served ad feature”, becoming the first e-commerce platform in Hong Kong to enable merchants to create an online store and Facebook ads using a mobile phone.
However, before that, it is required for merchants to connect their store with Facebook assets through our Facebook Business Extension (FBE). Here are some common questions raised by merchants when using FBE:

Q1. Why does Boutir say “You need to set up your Facebook Pixel, Shop, Catalog and ad account first” when I try to create a Facebook ad and tap “Create” on the “Promotion” page?
As mentioned above, merchants are required to create or connect Facebook assets first before using our “self-served ad feature” to place ads. Please follow the steps below:
(1) Create or connect your Facebook assets using FBE
Using Boutir App
1. Tap “Set up Pixel, Shop and Catalog” on the “Store” page
2. Tap “Set up now”
3. Create or sign in to your Facebook account
4. Tap “Continue”
5. Our system will automatically create or search for the assets (including your Business Manager account, Facebook page, catalog, etc) that match your online store. If you want to change the option, please tap “>”
6. Taking “Business Manager Accounts” as an example, after tapping “>” shown on the last page, you can select the appropriate business manager account, and then tap “Continue”. If you need to create a new account, please tap “Create New”
7. After choosing required Facebook assets, please tap “Continue”
8. Tap “Next”
9. You will see the following sentence showing on your screen: Linking Boutir to Facebook. After that, please tap “Done”
Boutir Admin
1. Sign in to your account in Boutir Admin (https://www.boutir.com/business)
2. Click “Settings” > “Channel settings” > “Set up” in the “Facebook pixel, shop and catalog settings” session
3. Click “Set Up / Edit”
4. After signing in to your Facebook account, please click the blue button shown in the following screenshot
5. Click “Continue”
6. Our system will automatically search for the assets (including your Business Manager account, Facebook page, catalog, etc) that match your online store. If you want to change the option, please tap “>”
7. After choosing required Facebook assets, please tap “Continue”
8. Click “Next”
9. You will see the following sentence showing on your screen: Linking Boutir to Facebook. After that, please tap “Done”
(2) Set up your Facebook ad account before placing ads
1. After tapping “Promotion” on our homepage, please tap “create” > “Set Up now” > “Connect Facebook account”
2. Tap “Continue” and sign in to your account which has been connected your Boutir store
3. Choose your Business Manager account carefully. You cannot change your option afterwards
4. After reviewing your account details, you can start to create ads immediately, or do it later
Q2. Why can’t I connect my Instagram account with my store using FBE?
It could happen if you do not own a business Instagram account, or have not connected it with your Facebook page successfully.

Q3. Why does Boutir notify me of the following error when I try to connect my assets using FBE?
1. An unknown error has occurred. [400]
There are several possible reasons for this error, including:
- You have changed your account information (e.g. password) after the connection
- You connection record has been expired
- You are connecting a wrong Business Manager account/ Facebook page/ Facebook Pixel / Catalog
You can connect your assets with your store using FBE again. Please note that only business and business plus plan users are eligible to complete this step using our Desktop CMS.
2. Permission Error [200]
Please contact our Customer Success team (m.me/boutir.hk) immediately if this error has occurred.
3. Ineligible account
It could happen since you are not an admin of your Facebook page – only people with this role can link your Boutir store to the page.
To solve this problem, please ask admins to give you this role on the page.

- Facebook Business Manager ID
- Facebook Page ID
- Facebook Pixel ID
- Facebook Catalog ID
- Facebook account profile URL
Q4. How can I find the IDs mentioned above?
You can find the IDs in your Business manager account. Business manager is a free management tool which enables you to:
- create and manage different assets in one account, such as your Facebook page, Instagram account, audience list and product catalog
- manage roles of different stakeholders for your page and safeguard your access with full control
- effectively track data regarding your ads on Facebook and Instagram, such as their expenses and impression
To find your IDs:
1. After entering Facebook Business Suit, please click “Settings”
2. After clicking “Business Account Info”, you can find your Business Manager ID
3. After clicking “Business Assets” and the page name, you can find the page ID
4. After clicking “More Business Settings”, you can find details of other assets
5. After clicking “Pixels” on the left side of the page, you can find the pixel ID
6. After clicking “Catalogs” on the left side of the page, you can find the catalog ID
Q5. How can I become the page admin which allows me to connect the page with my Boutir store?
You have to ask the admin of the page to give you the role first. Please ask them to follow the steps below:
1. Click “Settings” on the left side of the page
2. Click “Page Roles”
3. Enter the account name or email address in the designated box, and then select the appropriate account
4. Select “Admin”
5. Click “Add”, and then enter your password for confirmation
Note: If you’re not friends with the admin who sent you an invitation for a Page role, you’ll need to accept the invitation before you can begin your role.
