People nowadays are no stranger to the concept of “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL). Especially when it comes to expensive products, many customers choose to check out with a credit card first, and then pay in installments for the rest. However, have you ever thought of paying in the same way even if the consumption amount is small?
Boutir is now collaborating with a Singapore start-up company – Atome.
Atome’s flexible payment model can help merchants increase revenue. Customers can split a bill into 3 interest-free installments, reducing the amount of instant consumption, ultimately increasing consumer sentiment. You only need to go through a simple registration process to use Atome payment on your online store, and no handling fee will be charged.
From the perspective of Customers, what are the characteristics of Atome service?
Although Atome’s “Buy First, Pay Later” service is similar to the installment payment service of traditional banks and credit card companies, customers can have different shopping experiences with Atome. If customers use the latter, they are usually required to fill in an application form, facing more inconvenience.
If customers want to pay with Atome, they need to set up an account with identity card number, credit card and phone number beforehand. The amount of consumption is limited to RM 1500 for new debit card users and RM 5000 for new credit card users. During the transaction, customers can split the bill into 3 installments within simple steps – pay only the first installment, and the remaining will be paid in the form of automatic payment transfer, with zero interest, zero handling fee and no annual fee.
However, if the customer has failed to pay on time, they will be required to pay all the outstanding amounts due on their account, and an admin fee of RM 30 upon non-repayment of each deferred payment. The maximum admin charge is capped at RM 60 per order.

How can customers checkout with Atome on online stores?
- Customers can choose “Atome” as the payment method in the checkout process, then click on “Confirm to pay” to continue.
- After confirming the order, customers can pay in the following two ways:
- scan the QR code via the Atome APP
- login Atome account on the official website and pay
- (a) If customers choose to pay via the Atome APP, they shall open the Atome APP and click on “Scan QR code” to scan the QR code appeared on the previous page.
(b) If customers choose to continue with the web version, they shall enter a registered phone number and click on “Send Verification Code”. Next, they can input the verification code received through SMS, then click on “Next” to continue. - After scanning the QR code / confirming identity through verification code, payment details and installments information will be shown. Customers can click on “Confirm to pay” if no problem arises.
- After successful payment, customers will be redirected to the page of “Paid successfully” and receive a SMS message. Click on “Confirm” to complete the payment.
- After the payment is completed, customers will be redirected to the page of “Confirmed Order”.
- Customers can choose “Atome” as the payment method in the checkout process, then click on “Confirm to pay” to continue.
- After customers have confirmed the order, they will be redirected to the Atome APP. Then, payment details and installments information will be shown. Customers can click on “Confirm to pay” if no problem arises.
- After successful payment, customers will be redirected to the page of “Paid successfully” and receive a SMS message. Click on “Confirm” to complete the payment.
- After the payment is completed, customers will be redirected to the page of “Confirmed Order”.

How can Boutir merchants activate Atome service?
Procedure:
Merchants fill in application form to set up an Atome account
- Merchants fill in the following application form: https://portal.atome.my/form-submit?accessToken=6ddeb03a50cd4d5684cc1ab307d0df0a
- After receiving the application, Atome will contact eligible merchants for follow-up via email
- Atome will provide API Key and Password for successfully applied merchants
Merchants shall activate Atome in Boutir APP with provided API Key and Password
- After receiving the API Key and Password provided by Atome, merchants shall choose Atome in “Payment method” in the Boutir APP, then input and save the API Key and password
Customers can pay via Atome on merchants’ online stores
- After connecting the service, customers can pay via Atome on merchants’ online stores
